In my experience, I’ve come to understand 4 types of “knowing”
Things that you know you know…
Things that you know you don’t know…
Things that you don’t know you know…
Things that you don’t know that you don’t know…
Things you know you know
This realm of knowing is pretty easy…these are the things like your name, your address, you phone number… unless you’re like me – you never call yourself, you probably don’t know your phone number. 🙂
Things that you know you don’t know...
Again, pretty straight forward. These are the things that you “know” you know nothing about…like flying a plan probably, or heart surgery, or quantum mechanics. They’re subjects that you can say, “I don’t know that”.
Things that you don’t know you don’t know…
Similar to the last category of knowing this are things you don’t know…but you don’t know that you don’t know them. For example, you don’t know where I went to college. This is something you obviously don’t know, but you didn?t know that you didn’t know it until I brought it to your attention. This is by far the largest segment of knowing the Universe.
People who think they “know everything” are totally missing the boat. There is so much knowing floating around that you couldn’t possibly “know” a fraction of all there is to know.
Things that you don’t know you know…
This is the area that really excites me. These are the things that you say, “Hey, I knew that…” Without really having “known” it…more specifically been taught or told it. This is the area that holds intuition and the connection to the infinite universal intelligence.
I find myself speaking from this place a lot.
When my coaching clients come to me and ask questions, admittedly, a lot of times I have no idea what the answer is, but I’ll open my mouth and more sense than I could ever have conjured up on my own up flows out. To the point that I’m even amazed at the stuff I say.
One friend/client asked me, “Wow…how do you know all this stuff?”
I thought for a moment and said, “I don’t know…it just comes to me”
She replied, “Thanks for letting God flow through you…what you said was exactly what I needed to hear” and she went on to do some really major things about what we were talking about.
What better compliment is there than that?!?
Very well said!! This is really amazing! And its so true! Guess I?ll place this whole thing under 3rd the type of knowing. Things that I dont know I dont know. I never knew all this.
I actually have a lot of things around me that I don?t even know that I don?t know about them. Might be because I never had a reason to think about them!
It does happen to me also at times when suddenly I have a strong feeling like, ” hey! I already know this thing!” And I still wonder how it works. I still wonder if we really get connected to the Universal intellegence or it’s just a feeling that I have!
Am glad I got to read something like this. Great job!
That interests me. I never thought of these things until now. I am so amazed how the act of knowing was explained in details. And they are really straightforward..
I’m starting to think that I knew these things before.. thats a joke!
