It Ain't Braggin' If Ya Done It!

  • Minutes Read

I am one of the world’s best marketers.

There are about 2,000 people in the world who are better at marketing than me. So comparatively speaking, with over 6 billion other people in the world, I’m better at marketing than 99.997% of the entire world’s population.

And I’m proud of that.

I remember a saying I heard while in Texas… “It Ain’t Braggin’ If Ya Done It!”

I thought it was pretty cool because most people are trained to ‘keep quiet’ and not talk about the great things they’ve done.

Why is that?

This makes no sense to me at all.

Based on the principles of Psycho-Cybernetics, it’s in your best interests to talk about the great things you’ve done. It boosts your self esteem, gives you more confidence and increases your vibrations. Which attracts more of the same to you…what a concept!

This is GREAT for when you’re taking on new goals and you may be stuck from fear or being unsure of yourself.

Talking about the things you’ve accomplished in the past is a wonderful boost and reaffirmation that you CAN do great things and you were probably just as scared when you did the other thing, but you got through it and made it a success.

I think the biggest difference is your intention of talking about your accomplishments.

If your intention is to make others feel bad, or to make yourself feel better than others then it falls into the realm of bragging…which can be counterproductive.

I’m sure you’re better than 99.997% of the world’s population at something…

Write it down and proclaim it to the world!

I am one of the world’s best __________ (you fill in the blank)

There’s nothing wrong with doing that.

It’s true isn’t it?

And as they say in Texas…

“It Ain’t Braggin’ If Ya Done It!”

Practical Application

Make a list of all the great things you’ve accomplished in your life.
Keep that list near and dear to you.
Every day, say in the mirror, I am one of the world’s best __________
Feel it, mean it.
Refer to this list when you get stuck

  1. Antonio,

Great post! I would like to know whether you give training to someone, like myself, on how to become as such a great marketer as yourself.

Really want to end this year on a very positive, productive note!

    Thanks for reading….

  2. I agree with you there. Actually I want to be a great marketer too. I am great at giving advice. So I want to try and market that skill, but I just don’t know how to go about that. Can you point me in the right direction?

  3. Antonio,
I couldn’t agree more. Because in the end you, meaning yourself, are your best promoter. Now I believe that one can see people who are just bsing you. I live in DC, so you come across alot of name droppers..people who really exagerate acomplisments, but it is usually very transparent. Also, it took me some time to realize that this is a good thing and not a bad thing. I grew up in a strict Catholic background where being “humble” was a sacrifice. (I am not to keen on organized religion, because many of the teachings seemed to promote that being poor was is part of wordly sacrifice and that being’rich” is because God blesses you over another person.)

Thanks for the posts, which are positive and give me daily brain food.

  4. Lana, I would not “try” to market your skills, just go ahead and start doing it! “Trying” means that you are preparing for failure. “Doing” something means you are preparing for success. Good luck 🙂

  5. This is one great way of looking at accomplishments from a different angle. I’ve always thought that it’s modesty to keep your achievements to yourself unless it’s solicited. I’ve always wanted to express my winning ideas and my strengths to people around me to help them but fear that may put them off and think of me as proud. Now, I know better. Thanks for this post.
