Do Something Different

  • Minutes Read

Einstein once said,

“The problems that exist in the world cannot be solved by the level of thinking that created them.”

This is so true. That’s one of the reasons why doing new things is so powerful. It stretches your mind and forces you to get out of your ‘comfort zone’. Even if it’s only ‘little’ things.

In yesterday’s law of attraction blog post I talked about doing something different and encouraged everyone to come to the blog and post what they’re doing differently.

I’m going to start the thread in this post by submitting what I did differently today….

As many of you know, I NEVER (EVER) answer my phone live…I just get way too many calls. But today, I answered the phone every time. As a result, I had a great conversation that I wouldn’t have had otherwise and I won an all expenses paid trip to Las Vegas…just kidding (I must be on a time share calling list πŸ™‚ )

Anyway, just answering the phone was really different for me, so that was pretty interesting.

So your turn… what did you do differently today???!

  1. Hey Antonio,

This is amazing, it’s like you are reading my mind. I was just talking about this with a girfriend this morning, and it was BEFORE I read your post. I said I was going to try something new everyday.

    great minds think alike πŸ˜‰

Today I had tea instead of coffee. coffee gets me up in the morning, but I’m usually sleepy again about 2, but I feel great today.

  2. Wow Antonio! I’m floored by your latest podcast. Which by the way, I listen to all of your podcasts mutiple times and they’ve really helped me enjoy life more.

Anyway, I’m just in awe that the woman you went on a date with, is identical to the one on your vision board. I was debating whether I should put a picture of my ideal mate on my vision board or not. But now that I know it worked for you, I’ll do it.

What am I doing different this week? Waking up at 5:30 am and going for a run for 15 minutes. I’ve been putting that off for weeks, but I’ll do it now.

  3. Alex,

Thanks so much for the kind, kind words. It’s always a joy to see that I’m impacting other people’s lives. πŸ™‚

Glad to hear about your 15 minute run…that’s going to make a huge difference in your life.

Please keep me informed and let me know how it goes!

  4. Greetings Antonio!!!

It is so great to hearing how you are applying the LOA in your own life. What a great thing to hear that your ideal mate came to life in present reality. Congrats on that. In regards to doing something different, I decided to cook today with the items we had around the house INSTEAD of coping out and just going out to eat lunch. Now if you knew me, you would realize this was a pretty big deal considering I’m in the early stages of learning to cook. However, I have made up my mind that I am going to be an excellent cook and I took one step forward by going off the page and not following a recipe and instead getting creative. And it worked!!. The second thing I did was write in about my experience. Because I’m usually the girl that reads about everyone else’s breakthroughs but for whatever reason never get around to writing my own!! So thank you for giving me a place to express today’s small but significant break though!!! Keep paying it forward!!!

  5. Hey Lizza,

Good For You! I’m “in the early stages of cooking” as well and you’ve inspired me to try a new dish today!

I think your breakthrough is HUGE! You’re going to be amazed at what it opens up for you.

Thanks for sharing with us! πŸ™‚

  6. Today I ordered Pinto beans instead of my usual Black Beans on my Chipolte Burrito. Day one of 7…tomorrow I will go to the gym in the morning instead of the usual afternoon routine. This is gonna be fun.

  7. Did the Afternoon Workout today, had to dig a bit deeper to reach my workout goal, but it was cool to have the rest of the day to catch up on other stuff. Day 3 of “do something different” will consist of jogging to the gym instead of driving tomorrow. Gonna be cold here in Chicago, but I’ve been thinking about jogging instead of driving for awhile now.

  8. Today, day 1, I added more weight to my workout routine. I have even joined a class at the gym. I feel great and I am already seeing results.

  9. Ok, so I didn’t jog to the gym in the snow and wind…the secret’s about feeing good, and that wouldn’t make me feel good. Some other day…so instead, I wrote in my journal in reverse time. Usually, I write from the point I left off up until the present. I wrote from Wednesday, back to Feb 14th (the last entry) I found it to be easier to remember the details, and enjoyed it. Thursday, I decided to read instead of have a couple beers prior to going out. I’m reading the Celestine Prophecy, and ended up projecting love to those around me, it proved to be an enjoyable evening. Today, I have kept my TV off all day for a change. Not sure what day 5 of do something different will entail..figure it out tomorrow.

  10. WOW Ahren!

You’re really shaking things up! That’s really good news…and I’m glad to hear that you’re getting great results from it.

If you don’t mind me asking, how are you feeling doing all the new things you’re doing this week?

  11. Today, day 2, This morning before getting out of bed, I gave thanks. I didn’t ask for anything, I was just grateful for life.

This I will continue to do.

  12. This new woman in your life that you keep talking about sure sounds phenomenal πŸ™‚

Anyway, you have motivated me to try something different. I took the time to ask everyone I came in contact with today (i.e. cashier, waitress, parking attendant, etc.) how their day was going. The response was amazing. It was really fulfilling to see how such a simple sign of interest could completely change a person’s demeanor.

This is a habit I definitely plan on keeping.

  13. Day 3 (I think). Today, I took a walk through the old neighborhood I grew up in. Since today was a beautiful day why not. I met some old elementary and Jr. High school friends and I got a haircut. This is the “hood” East Saint Louis and I noticed change. I saw new store fronts, a new park, and a new school building. People were out washing their cars, kids playing, people burnin’ meat on a grill. It was nice. It was wonderful.

I caught the bus and over heard a conversation of an old woman talking to an old friend. She said that she would be turnning 77 years old tommorow. She didn’t look a day over 60. She was excited!!!

I had my iPod in my ears and caught the faint sound of George Harrison’s voice singing, “And the time will come when you see we’re all one, and life flows on within and without you”…..WOW!!!

Amazing. I am grateful that I took the walk. I am grateful for the beautiful day. I am grateful to be apart of the whole. I am grateful to be here. I am grateful.

I learned that the Universe/God communicates with us all the time. We just have to be open and willing to just listen.

  14. Day 4, I did the unthinkable. I said No!!!!
I was one of those people who couldn’t say no. If folks needed a babysiter, I was always available and etc, etc. So, today I said No, and It felt good. I felt like a wieght was lifted off my shoulders. Of course there was some resistance from people who thought it was uncharacteristic of me, but who cares.

I should have done this years ago, but now is always the right time.

  15. Day 5, I am back at the gym feeling good and looking great. Don’t get me wrong, I am not overweight at all in fact I am what others would consider to be thier ideal weight. I just want to pack on some muscle. Well, anyway, I have totally changed my perspective of how I see myself. For years I had a complex about being too skinny, dark, short. Now, I have completely changed how I see myself. I realized that I was always in control over how I felt about my appearance. I was the one who accpeted and internalized negative comments about me. I made those comments my reality.

Now, knowing that, that chapter of my life is now closed and old news. Today, I am the most attractive I have ever been. In fact, I look so good I have to jump back and kiss myself sometimes. It isn’t arrogance or anything like that. If anybody is going to repsect, appreciate, love, etc. all of me, then I have to, first, respect, appreciate, love, etc. all of me.

This is my something different for today. I am going to view myself in a much better light than before.

  16. Day, 6 and seems like I am the only one doing this…..Well anyway, my something different today was to chill, to take it easy. It was cool, really cool. I learned that nothing is that too important to rush or to be in a hurry.

  17. Day 7 (last day), Today, my something different wasn’t any “different” than any other day. I awoke, showered, eat breakfast etc. However, I said, “I love you” to myself, in my mind all day. It kept me in a really nice groove all day. This is going to be apart of my daily routine.

Thanks Mr. Thornton for giving the opportunity to explore myself and to find new and great things within. Thanks a whole bunch.
