How Does A Great Day Make You Successful?

How casually we wave and say, “Have a great day!” We say it without a thought; we say it whether we mean it or not; we say that whether we are having one, ourselves or not.

This reminds me of all the excitement that everyone feels on the eve of each New Year.  Wishes for a Blessed New Year; A Prosperous Year and great spirits everywhere.

What makes us feel this way? What is different or special about another New Year?  I believe it is “Hope”. Hope to start all over again, hope for a chance to make changes. The first few days there are many resolutions made and moral is high. But as the weeks pass so does the enthusiasm.

Do we have to wait for a whole year to get motivated and make resolutions? Of course not!

Everyday is Unique

Do we have to wait for a New Year to feel like a fresh start is possible?  Does not every new day give us an opportunity for a new beginning? Yesterday is gone, today is what you have. You may have made mistakes but they are behind you; today you have an opportunity to make good the losses. Yesterday is lost but right now is yours.

Here are some pointers that will help you make each day a great day:

  • Be thankful for TODAY! You are alive.
  • Decide and tell yourself “I will have a great day today!”
  • Treat each day as a NEW DAY with the possibilities of good things.
  • Begin each day with a plan and purpose.
  • Every day will have its challenges; treat them as opportunities for growth
  • At the end of each day spend time to asses where you went wrong and what you can do to improve your tomorrow.
  • Congratulate yourself on your achievements
  • Dream and expect a GREAT DAY TOMORROW!

What makes your day great?

As soon as we say “great day” we picture a day where everything goes smoothly, there are no oppositions, no failures.  But in real life, each day may have its own set of surprises. This is not a “bad” thing. How we label each situation, “good” or “bad”, depends on our perception of these events. One person can have a hard day and go to bed exhausted but they feel a sense of accomplishment. On the other hand a person could have had just a small hurdle, such as a traffic jam causing them to be late to work, and moan the whole day long and spoil what could have been a great day.

How do you view life?

What does success mean to you?  Is it luxury, fame, power or just having a simple or quiet life? No matter what it may be that brings you joy, it’s not having any, which will leave your day empty and full of sadness.

Choose to make each day a great day and it will result not only in a successful day but a more rewarding and successful life!

What a great point, antonio! I think so many people view life so objectively, so they think they don’t have any control; therefore, “choosing” to have a great day isn’t possible for them, because they simply believe that they can’t choose, or at least part of them believes that even if they “choose” to have a good day, that it really is just wishful thinking.

So I think the best thing to do is to first realize that you DO have control, and to stop observing an objective world that you have no control over. Perception is everything, and we all create our individual perceptions–create a good one and that is the first step to happiness 🙂

I’ll second Jonathan on what he said about perception being everything. That’s why it’s very important that in the morning everytime we wake up, we immediately condition ourselves that each new day brings a unique new event to your life. Live life like it will never happen again.
